Non NHS Services

Private Work Fees

Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:

  • Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.)
  • Insurance claim forms
  • Letters for taking medication abroad
  • Private sick notes
  • Vaccination certificates
  • Private prescriptions - fee of £5 for every prescription
    • Medicines to stop hair loss or medicines for erectile dysfunction (if you are not eligible on the NHS)

The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.

Because these are non-NHS service requests, our staff will complete this work when they have available time.  These requests cannot be prioritised over NHS services.

Please note that all private non-NHS work can have a lead time of 30 working days.

Driving Medicals – Deposit of £50

Due to the amount of wasted appointments we have had in relation to driving medicals we now require a non refundable deposit of £50. The remaining balance will be payable at the time of the appointment.

This deposit is ONLY refundable if the medical is cancelled giving us a minimum of 24 hours notice. If you have let us know you are unable to attend your appointment and wish to re-schedule then the deposit you have provided will be used against your new appointment, providing 24hours notice is given.

The Practice no longer accepts cheques - all payments must be made by card or cash.
